It is a novel adjuvant to enhance fungicide efficacy in banana cultivation
ATM News Network – Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, a leading provider in the energy sector, through its MAC Lubricants Division, has launched MAK ADJOL Banana, a revolutionary product in the Agri Spray segment. It has been launched in collaboration with the National Research Centre for Banana (NRCB) and can be used as a fungicide used in banana cultivation.
The launch event was organised in Theni, Tamil Nadu on July 22, 2023. The program was attended by P. Sudhahar, Executive Director (Lubes), Debasish Ganguly, Chief General Manager P&AD (Lubes), S. Kannan, Head (Lubes), South and Thangavelu, Principal Scientist, NRCB. A large number of farmers and business partners were also present on the occasion.
Welcoming the dignitaries, P. Sudhahar, Executive Director (Lubes) thanked NRCB for supporting the trials of the product and helping in formulating this product especially for banana farmers. He reiterated BPCL's commitment to nation building, be it in any field. He also informed the participants about another similar product MAK ADJOL Tea launched recently for tea garden.
Debasish Ganguly explained in detail about the benefits of the product and asked the participants to make the best use of it.
Speaking on the occasion, Thangavelu, Principal Scientist, NRCB highlighted the problems faced by banana farmers, especially leaf-spot disease which has the potential to destroy the crop, causing serious hardships to all the stakeholders involved have to do. He appreciated the efforts of BPCL to cooperate with NRCB in finding a permanent solution to the problem. The product was earlier tried at different locations under different climatic conditions as per the recommendations of NRCB.
The MAK ADJOL Banana can be mixed with water in the ratio of 1-100 with the recommended dosage of fungicides. The adjuvant improves penetration through the waxy cuticle, increases droplet wetting and spreading, and reduces the evaporation rate, thus significantly improving the efficacy of the fungicide used. It is bio degradable, environment friendly, non-phytotoxic and completely safe to use.v
