The city was lacking due to air connectivity in past years. But now, the city has an International Airport at Ozar, with air connectivity to major cities in the Country.
Currently, the city has air connectivity with the cities like Hyderabad, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Pune and Belgaum. Nashikites who were waiting for many years will be connected with Goa and Bangalore which are leading cities in the information and technology sector by air service. On behalf of Spice Jet Company, soon there will be daily service from Ozar Airport during the season of September and October.
The flight will take off from Bangalore at 12:30 PM and will land at Ozar base at 2:35 PM. After that, the flight will take off at 2:55 PM and reach Goa at 3:55 PM. The flight will take off from Goa to Nashik at half past five. At 6:35 PM it will arrive at Ozar Airport and at 6:55 PM the flight will again fly to Bangalore. Although the flight service will be for two months, the winter season will be planned after October by the Spice Jet Company.
Under Udan Yojana for domestic flight connectivity by the Central Government, air services are currently running from Ozar Airport to the important cities of Ahmedabad-Pune-Hyderabad-Delhi. The Nashik Municipal Corporation with its Citilinc bus service is strengthening the road connectivity with the airport.
Both Goa and Bangalore are famous for tourism and information and technology business, respectively, and various organisations and companies are interested in bringing the IT industry to Nashik. The recent inclusion of Nashik Airport in the Kisan Udan scheme will help the agri-businesses to grow.
