Disease-free and quality orange, lemon, lemon will be useful for grafting
ATM News Network: Central Citrus Research Institute, Nagpur has developed the technology for producing high quality and disease-free oranges, mosambi ro sweet lime and lemons. With the aim of making viable, healthy and quality seedlings available to the farmers, an MoU was signed between Sahyadri Farmers Producer Company and Central Citrus Research Institute (CCRI) in Nagpur on Saturday (15th) for transfer of nursery technology.
Union Minister of Roads, Highways and Transport Nitin Gadkari, Director of the Institute Dr. Dilip Ghosh, President of Sahyadri Farm Vilas Shinde, Executive Director of MahaOrange Sridhar Thackeray, Director Manoj Javanjal were present on this occasion.
On this occasion Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said that the role of quality plants is important in maintaining the quality of oranges, mosambi and lemons. In that background, the technology of the Central Citrus Research Institute will be helpful in the production of such plants. Maximum number of nurseries should adopt this technology.
Technology for manufacturing disease-free grafts has been developed. Accreditation is given by CCRI for that. Against this backdrop, a memorandum of understanding on transfer of nursery technology was executed between Citrus Research Institute and Sahyadri Farm. Orange seedlings will be made available from Sahyadri Farm in the near future.
