The region's favourable climate and agricultural heritage have set the stage for it to emerge as a burgeoning hub for food processing. The concerted efforts of the Government of India, coupled with a slew of incentives, are paving the way for a thriving food processing industry in the North-East. These initiatives not only promise growth to agricultural producers but also generate employment opportunities in ancillary sectors like transportation, packaging, marketing, and advertising.
In the backdrop of this transformative landscape, the Confederation of Indian Industry - Southern Region (CII) has consistently pioneered the advancement of the food processing sector. Since 1995, CII's flagship event, "Foodpro," has evolved into India's premier platform for Food Processing & Technologies. With each passing year, it garners overwhelming participation from the industry and key stakeholders, underscoring its prominence in the sector.
Recognizing the escalating demand for such platforms in the North-eastern region, CII is all set to mark a historic moment with the inaugural edition of "Foodpro North-East 2023." This Exhibition and Conference, themed "Growing the Market for Food Processing in North-East," is scheduled from September 14 to 16, 2023, at the Maniram Dewan Trade Centre in Guwahati, India. Focused on Food Processing, Packaging, Technologies, Cold Chain, and Traditional Foods, the event is supported by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MOFPI), Government of India.
The platform promises to provide a fertile ground for stakeholders to convene, network, and explore the latest trends, innovations, products, and services in the food processing domain. The three-day exhibition will see the participation of over 100 exhibitors, with more than 10,000 business and trade visitors anticipated to attend. A dedicated sectoral conference, alongside a StartUp Pavilion and live demos, will spotlight the domains of Agri-food Processing, Bakery, Banana, and Millets. The event is further enriched with the opportunity for B2B, B2G, and B2C meetings, offering a multifaceted engagement platform.
