New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release the 22nd installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme on March 13, 2026, from Guwahati in Assam. Under this installment, more than Rs. 18,500 crore will be directly transferred to the bank accounts of over 9 crore farmer families across the country. The information was shared by Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
Government’s Commitment to Farmers
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that the PM-Kisan scheme reflects the central government’s strong commitment to the welfare of farmers under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The scheme is being implemented with the aim of honoring the country’s farmers as “Annadata” and strengthening their financial stability.
Total Assistance to Reach Rs. 4.27 Lakh Crore
According to the government, since the launch of the scheme in February 2019, around Rs. 4.09 lakh crore has already been transferred directly to farmers’ bank accounts under the PM-Kisan scheme. With the release of the 22nd installment, the total financial assistance provided under the scheme will reach approximately Rs. 4.27 lakh crore.
Rs. 6,000 Annual Support for Each Farmer Family
Under the PM-Kisan scheme, every eligible farmer family receives Rs. 6,000 per year, which is paid in three equal installments through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system. This financial assistance helps farmers purchase seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides, and also supports them in meeting household needs such as healthcare and education.
Special Support for Women Farmers
More than 2.15 crore women farmers are expected to benefit from the 22nd installment. The timely financial assistance helps improve the financial security of rural families and supports women who play a key role in agricultural activities.
Strengthening the Rural Economy
Independent studies have indicated that the PM-Kisan scheme has helped increase spending in rural areas, reduce farmers’ dependence on loans, and encourage investment in agriculture. The scheme is technology-driven and transparent, ensuring that funds reach beneficiaries directly without the involvement of intermediaries.
Easy e-KYC and Status Check
For the convenience of farmers, the PM-Kisan portal provides a “Know Your Status (KYS)” module. Through this facility, farmers can check their beneficiary status, eligibility, land record details, Aadhaar linking, and e-KYC status. The government has also launched a face authentication-based mobile application, allowing farmers to complete their e-KYC process from home. In addition, an AI-based voice chatbot called “Kisan-eMitra” provides information related to the scheme in 11 languages, 24×7.
Benefits Only for Eligible Farmers
Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan emphasized that the government is committed to ensuring that the benefits of the PM-Kisan scheme reach only eligible farmers. To maintain transparency, a voluntary surrender facility has been introduced for financially well-off farmers, and there is also a system to restore accounts that may have been mistakenly excluded from the beneficiary list.
Government Policies Supporting Farmers
The central government has introduced several farmer-focused initiatives such as crop insurance schemes, Soil Health Cards, Kisan Credit Cards, and increased Minimum Support Prices (MSP), which have contributed to positive changes in farmers’ lives. Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also urged farmers to verify their details on the PM-Kisan portal and complete their e-KYC so they can receive the 22nd installment on March 13 without any difficulty.
