Farmers’ organisations have become aggressive to oppose this decision. The Nashik District Traders Association has closed the auctions of 14 agriculture market committees of the district on Monday. The decision was taken in a meeting held on August 20. It is understood that a tractors arrived for the onion auction only at Pimpalgaon market committee. Therefore, information has come to light that onion auction is going on at some APMCs.
Onion farmers and traders in the state have become aggressive as the central government has increased the export duty of onion to 40 percent. Due to this, there is a fear that the price of onion will decrease in the retail market in the future. Therefore, 14 market committees of Nashik district have been closed indefinitely from Monday in protest against the decision of the central government. The decision was taken in the meeting of Nashik District Onion Traders Association at Lasalgaon. Protests started in many places since Saturday itself. After that, the direct auction process has been stopped.

Farmers are going to suffer a lot due to this decision of the Centre, so the farmers are angry and the traders are also keeping in mind the policy of the interest of the farmers, the auctions in the entire market committees have been closed today. Also, agitations are also being carried out at various places by Swabhimani Shekarti Sanghatana and other onion growers association.
