ATM News Network : The CNH Industrial has unveiled its latest cyber security lab at the India Technology Centre (ITC) in Gurugram, as part of the company's ongoing efforts to fortify its global operations against digital threats. This new lab complements the existing cyber security teams based in the United States, marking India's growing significance in the global cyber security landscape.
The state-of-the-art Gurugram lab is staffed by a team of ten engineers, including certified ethical hackers and forensic investigators. Collaborating closely with their U.S. counterparts, they provide around-the-clock support to bolster CNH Industrial's cyber security defences across its worldwide operations.
Marc Kermisch, Chief Digital and Information Officer at CNH Industrial, emphasized India's pivotal role, stating, "India is becoming a key part of our global cyber security capability, handling incidents for 12 hours a day and passing them to the U.S. team during non-working hours."
One of the lab's notable achievements is the development of cutting-edge tools that monitor more than 40,000 connected assets in real-time. These tools are designed to proactively combat cyber threats, mitigate malware-related issues, and educate CNH Industrial's workforce on best cyber security practices.
Kermisch also commended the lab for its instrumental role in managing a recent cyber security incident involving a key vendor in Australia, underscoring the seamless collaboration between the Indian and Australian teams.
CNH Industrial has ambitious plans for the Gurugram technology centre. Currently operational for 18 months, it boasts a workforce of approximately 700 engineers, with nearly 70% having relevant experience in the automotive industry. To accommodate the growing team, the company is in the process of expanding the Gurugram facility, acquiring 70,000 square feet of office space in two phases. The first phase, set for completion by the end of 2023, will create room for an additional 400-500 engineers over the next two years.
At the heart of the ITC in India is the company's commitment to global product development. Currently, 200 product development engineers at the centre are engaged in various projects that cater to specific markets. These projects include the development of combines for the U.S. market, sugarcane harvesters customized for Latin America, and specialty vineyard tractors designed for Europe. In addition to product development, the IT and digital divisions at ITC focus on applications for dealers and employees, on-board electronics, and software engineering to support users worldwide.
CNH Industrial has strategically positioned its talent with a presence of 70 engineers in Bengaluru and Pune. For over 25 years, CNH Industrial India has been serving the domestic market through its Case IH, New Holland Agriculture, and CASE Construction Equipment brands, all of which have 'Made in India' manufacturing operations.
As part of its ongoing global expansion and cyber security readiness efforts, CNH Industrial's latest cybersecurity lab in Gurugram reflects the company's commitment to safeguarding its operations and ensuring the integrity of its products and services in an increasingly digital world. The company anticipates doubling the workforce at the ITC cyber security lab within the next year.
