ATM News Network: The Central Pesticides Board and Registration Committee has issued a notice under section 9(3) to Mahamaya Lifesciences Company in the agrochemical industry sector has got approval for to develop product with bispyribac sodium technical.
Bispyribac sodium is an herbicide that diffuses into plant cells and works by interfering with acetolactate synthase (ALS), which is essential for plant growth. The product is most widely used in India as an emergency herbicide for the control of various grasses, sedges and broadleaf weeds in paddy seed nurseries.
Mahamaya Lifesciences plans to sell the product as a technical and bulk formulation to leading Indian agrochemical companies. Mahamaya has set up a SC formulation plant to meet this requirement, with a production capacity of 3,000 liters per day.
Apart from this, Mahamaya is launching its own brand ‘Gehena’, to meet the needs of the farmers directly in the major paddy producing states. Currently Mahamaya brand has presence in Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Maharashtra with more than 500 distributors.
