Rabi crops are usually planted in October and November. These crops are harvested between January and March. This harvest depends on the maturity of the crop. Mustard is one of the most important Rabi crops. The Ministry of Agriculture has forecast a record mustard production of 12.81 million tonnes for the current crop year (2022-23). The same figure was 11.96 MT in the previous crop year.
Soybean meal exports increased by 77% year-on-year to 0.55 MT in April-January 2022-23. According to officials, domestic soybean prices fell from a high of `7,640/quintal to around 4,700/quintal in April 2022, encouraging harvest and good prices. Indian rice is mainly exported to South East Asian countries due to ease of supply and small consignment size.
