ATM News Network: In the first eight months (April-November) of the current financial year 2022-23, exports of agricultural and processed food products have increased by 16 percent compared to the same period of the current financial year 2021-22.
Total exports of Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) products increased by 16 per cent in US dollar terms during April-November 2022, according to projected data provided by the Directorate General of Commerce Intelligence and Statistics. It has increased to USD 17.43 billion from USD 15.07 billion in the same period last fiscal.
New schemes undertaken by the Agriculture and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority, which works under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, have helped achieve 74 percent of the total export targets in the first eight months of the current year.
According to the data, processed fruits and vegetables registered a growth of 32.60 percent (April-November 2022), while fresh fruits registered a growth of four percent over the corresponding months of the previous year.
Also, pulses and various processed food products registered a growth of 28.29 percent compared to the first eight months of the previous year. Exports of pulses have increased by 90.49 percent during the eight months of the current financial year compared to the same months of the previous financial year.
