ATM News Network: On Tuesday, The Agriculture and Farmer Welfare Department Secretary Manoj Ahuja, accompanied by Dr Abhilaksh Likhi, Additional Secretary and Horticulture Commissioner Prabhat Kumar, visited National Horticulture Research and Development Foundation (NHRDF) Chittagaon and Sahyadri Farmers Producer Company Limited, at Mohadi, Dindori, Nashik and interacted with farmers.
The district of Nashik has been selected as one of 12 clusters for its grapes, under the pilot of the Cluster Development Programme initiated by the Government of India. The senior officers from the ministry visited the grape farms of the farmer member of Sahyadri Farmers Producer Company Ltd.
The officials from the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare interacted with the farmer and took information about the practices and key factors responsible for the production of quality grapes. The farmers shared their experiences with production, quality grapes and also problems being faced concerning weather conditions and other natural and manmade calamities.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare (MoA&FW), Government of India, has launched the Cluster Development Programme (CDP). It is a central sector programme implemented by the National Horticulture Board (NHB). The programme aims to enable holistic growth and development of identified horticulture clusters to make them globally competitive and entrench them into national and global value chains.
