Extraction peeling system developed by Juran Technologies
ATM News Network: The COVID-19 pandemic has made food safety a top priority. In response, Juran Technologies is introducing technological solutions to add value to post-harvest treatment and increase food safety.
Juran Technologies is presenting two new technologies: ArilSystem and EcoLychee. ArilSystem is a pomegranate extraction system that operates without human contact. It was developed in collaboration with ARO (Agriculture Research Organisation at the Ministry of Agriculture, Israel). EcoLychee is an innovative technology that treats lychee peel without the use of sulphur.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, people worldwide have become more aware of the importance of food safety, especially when it comes to handling food after harvesting. ArilSystem's mechanical extraction system eliminates human contact by placing pomegranates into one side and extracting the arils without touching the fruit. Additionally, disinfecting materials that are approved for use in food can be integrated into the process to ensure a hygienic environment.
The use of ArilSystem ensures high levels of food safety and disease-free production. Juran Technologies collaborated with ARO to develop this pomegranate extraction system for sale and service worldwide.
When handling fresh produce after harvest, it is essential to take the utmost care to ensure that the product reaches consumers while still at peak quality and with optimal nutrient retention. For example, sulfur is conventionally used after picking to preserve the red peel color of lychee fruit. However, some consumers have allergic or asthmatic reactions to sulfur-containing foods, making this practice dangerous for them.
Juran Technologies has developed a sulfur-free method of treating picked lychee fruit. This method not only enables safe processing for consumers but also extends the shelf life of lychees up to four or five weeks.
Juran Technologies' new technologies offer innovative solutions to post-harvest treatment in the post-COVID era, ensuring higher levels of food safety and extending the shelf life of fresh produce.
