ATM News Network: India is the world's largest exporter of rice and in that too India is the largest exporter of basmati rice. According to the data, despite transport restrictions, India has exported 126.97 lakh tonnes of aromatic basmati and non-basmati rice in the current financial year. Compared to last year, India's exports have increased by 7.37 percent.
During the same period last year, 118.25 lakh tonnes were exported. Basmati rice exports during the April-October period of the financial year 2022-23 were 21.59 lakh tonnes last year. Which has increased to 24.97 lakh tonnes during the same period. Exports of non-basmati rice have increased by about 5 lakh tonnes. Earlier it was 96.66 lakh tonnes. Which has now increased to 102 lakh tonnes.
India used to export basmati rice to markets like America, Europe and Saudi Arabia. Non-basmati rice is exported to African countries. About two-thirds of basmati rice is exported to Iran, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, United Arab Emirates and Yemen.
