ATM News Network: Indian drone startup Garuda Aerospace has partnered with Flipkart-backed agri-commerce startup Ninjakart to bring technology to the Indian agriculture sector.
Both companies will provide short-term financing to the farmers. So farmers can use the new drone technology at a cheaper price. The use of drones in agricultural fields not only helps farmers improve crop yields but also reduces input costs and increases farm-level efficiency.
Apart from technology, Garuda and Ninjakart will provide training and business opportunities to rural entrepreneurs in India. In this, farmers will be trained to fly drones. Both startups claim that rural youth can earn between Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh per month through these opportunities.
Agniswar Jayaprakash, Founder and CEO, of Garuda Aerospace, said, "This partnership will not only help farmers improve productivity and reduce costs, but will also provide skills and business opportunities to young entrepreneurs. We believe this collaboration will help develop a lasting impact on India's agriculture sector".
"We believe in leveraging technology to make farming more efficient and profitable for farmers", said Karteswaran KK, co-founder and CEO of Ninjakart. The use of drones in agriculture will also help in soil analysis, water management and precision farming.”
Garuda Aerospace currently has 400 'Made-in-India' drones and a team of over 500 pilots in 84 cities across India. Ninjakart is working with over one lakh farmers in 150 villages, helping them improve their incomes. Although it has shifted from B2C to a B2B model, Flipkart and Walmart have invested $175 million in Ninjakart since 2020.
